Amazing that after so many years these people preserved the Jamaican culture. They live in a Spanish speaking country and speak Jamaican patois as if they grew up in Jamaica 🇯🇲. As a Jamaican, I am now interested in visiting that part of Costa Rica. I wonder if they have historical records of where in Jamaica their foreparents were from. They have lots of unknown relatives in Jamaica!

I was hoping that you would have mentioned that there is a place called Old Harbor in Jamaica also.

This was an amazing documentary. I wish he could have gone a bit more in-depth with the questions about the history, especially with the elders. He cracked me up when he tried to do the accent, “my brother.” I was like, “Please stop it.”

This video popped up on my laptop a few hours ago and I feel inspired to respond as this information is new to me. Thank you for informing us about the history of fellow Jamaicans who are living in Costa Rica. This appears to be a lush, laid-back and beautiful country, similar to Jamaica. The indiginous Costa Ricans must be a tolerant and welcoming people and I am sending blessings to them for these indispensable qualities. The Jamaicans you interviewed (yes, I am aware that they were born there) are undeniably very happy and fulfilled to be a part of, what appears to be, a wonderful utopian society. There is no talk of them going to Africa or returning to Jamaica, as is frequently heard from many non-indigenous black people living in many other foreign countries. I am a British Jamaican grandmother, who would sincerely feel at home in Costa Rica.
